History of Dragon Place Arabians

In 1974 we could not find the size and quality of Black Arabian mares which we required so we purchased dark bay mares and leased a black stallion Arabian from California. We were able to get this pure black Champion Park Horse stallion, Malabar Duke, on lease for 4 years. Some of the bay mares produced black foals the first season so we kept some of the bay fillies and bred them back again before we got black. We have done well showing at the regional level.

We have sold 21 horses to Europe and 3 to England. The one black mare that we sold to England placed in the Top Ten at Ascot, one of the largest shows in England. This was when she was a 2 year old in a class of 30. She also placed at the British Nationals in 1995.

Our stallion Black Smoke was sold to Germany in 1990 and was high point Arabian performance horse in Germany that year. In October, 1990, he won the European Dressage Championship.

Other recent sales include mare D.P. Black Bandita (In foal to D.P. Black Balladier) and the yearling straight Egyptian Arabian colt D.P. Black Challenger sold to Norway to Jens Linstol. The colt D.P. Black Radar was sold to Alaska. D.P. Sarahtoga was sold to Germany, and many more were sold in British Columbia.

We have reduced our herd to straight Egyptian Arabians.

Our Stallions:

EH GAMIL (Gharib x El Garia)

Our senior performance stallion. 15.2 h.h. and has won many championships in open comptetition in English, Show Hack and Dressage. One of his colts is very successful on the race track in Norway.

VIA CON DIOS (Atticus x MB Naleenaa)

Our new junior stallion. This typey black stallion is a grandson of The Minstril. His pedigree has proven itself crossing with our Old Egytian line of mares. I am very impressed with his first foals for us. He is 14.2 h.h.

EH BADREIAH (Norus x EH Barisah)

This mare purchased from California from Eric Hagenlocker has been one of our best producers. It is her colt on the race track in Norway. She is 15.1 h.h. and has crossed very well also with the new Egyptian lines.

D.P. BLACK MONIQUE (EH Gamil x EH Badreiah)

This tall, elegant filly was bred to Via Con Dios this year. She is 15.2 h.h.

D.P. BLACK CHINOOK (Ru Moniet Sharouf x Saud El Nafisa)

This tall mare is a half sister to a colt sold to Germany for resale to Qatar.
